Sometimes we can use some extra tools in our toolbox to support us in managing when life occurrences seem to pile up and we just need a break. By employing a holistic approach —not just looking at you but also how your environment is impacting you —we can utilize therapy to provide that extra support needed to deal.
Amber McKinney practices clinical social work with experience in individual and couples therapy. She's certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Is trained in various interventions and therapeutic modalities included but not limited to: The Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Sex Therapy, Hypnosis, Somatic Experiencing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Seeking Safety, Motivational Interviewing and more.
in addition, amber is a published writer, penning pieces about integrating therapy modalities for optimal benefit. she also offers consultation to other clinicians looking to fine-tune their emdr skills.
Amber’s passion for the behavioral health field got put into play over 10 years ago, as a child counselor at residential group homes. Since then, she’s amassed experience working with individuals ages 4 and up coping with a range of life circumstances including trauma, homelessness and more.
